THE MCCLUGAGE BRIDGE PROJECT

Although the eastbound McClugage Bridge has been rehabilitated several times, the basic structure is over 70 years old and is approaching the end of its serviceable life. Updated design standards, new safety criteria, increased daily traffic, and the need for bicycle and pedestrian accommodations are factors that must be considered for this major crossing point over the Illinois River. These factors indicate the need for another rehabilitation, or complete reconstruction, of the eastbound McClugage Bridge structure.

Environmental Report Approved, Project Moves to Design Development
On September 20, 2017 the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the U.S. 150 Eastbound Structure (McClugage Bridge) over the Illinois River in Peoria and Tazewell Counties. This approval signifies the end of the preliminary phase of the project and the beginning of detailed design, which is scheduled to be completed late in 2018.
The approved documents from this phase of the project can be found in the Documents section of the website.
